Awareness Event!

Phase One of The
Dystonia Awareness Don't Come Event
campaign was kicked-off on Valentine's Day as
a fundraising function for busy people like
you, who like to support good causes but would
rather not go to a function. We extend our thanks
and appreciation to guests - Ellen Degeneres,
Drew Carey and Stephen Colbert, who took turns
speaking on how "Having Dystonia is No
Laughing Matter." (Although none of these
comedians have dystonia, they know that for
people who Do suffer with Dystonia, lack
of awareness is no laughing matter).
Dystonia
is a neurological disorder causing involuntary,
sustained muscle contractions that result in
repetitive movements, twisting and abnormal
postures. An estimated 300,000 people in North
America have dystonia. Dystonia is beginning
to affect so many people world wide, the urgency
to raise awareness in hope of driving research
to look for a cure, is becoming an important
mission.
Our goal is to expand the awareness of Dystonia
and by so doing encourage research professionals
and others who can help to care for a cure.
Together with your support, we can show we have
a heart and by showing awareness, make strides
toward finding ways to cope with this disease
as well as finding a cure.
